Macklemore Initiates ‘Free Palestine’ Tour
Renowned US rapper Macklemore has launched a “Free Palestine” tour, aiming to bring attention and funds to humanitarian causes within Palestine. This move follows his exclusion from Ed Sheeran’s US stadium tour. Contrary to the fallout, Macklemore (Benjamin Haggerty) is enlisting support from fellow artists and aims to cover an international circuit including stops in major cities like Dublin, Paris, and London.
Controversy Over Pro-Palestinian Stance
Macklemore’s outspoken support for Palestinian freedom, expressed during a US performance in early September, attracted controversy. His statement at the concert about not forgetting the plight of Gaza and the West Bank led to a chain of consequences; he was barred from future performances by venue owners, causing him to be dropped from Sheeran’s tour.
Ed Sheeran commented on the situation, clarifying that he bore no part in the decision to remove Macklemore. The backlash prompted Sheeran to apologize publicly, addressing fans at a subsequent concert about the difficulties surrounding the issue that he has found himself involved in.

The announcement of Macklemore’s solo tour has generated significant interest.
