In a remarkable display of batting prowess, Abhishek Sharma has shattered records by scoring the fastest century in a T20 international between full-member nations. This outstanding performance occurred during India’s third T20 match against Afghanistan in Delhi, thrilling cricket fans worldwide.
The 26-year-old cricketer reached his century in just 30 balls, becoming the quickest to do so in games involving top cricketing nations. Sharma’s innings was nothing short of spectacular, smashing nine fours and 11 sixes, which contributed significantly to India’s total score of 221 for 7.

Interestingly, this wasn’t even Sharma’s fastest T20 century, as he had previously notched up a blistering 28-ball hundred in a domestic match for Punjab against Meghalaya in 2024.
Against Afghanistan, Sharma led the charge right from the start, exploiting the bowlers with powerful shots all around the field. He played particularly well against the pace bowlers, using the pull shot to great effect, while also not hesitating to attack the spinners with his aggressive drives.

India’s innings received a significant boost from Sharma’s explosive start, as they managed to score 100 runs in the powerplay alone. Though his brilliant innings ended when he was caught behind off Rashid Khan’s bowling, India’s momentum carried them through to a competitive score.
After Sharma’s departure, India added 79 more runs, with support from other batsmen like Samson, who contributed a steady 50 from 35 balls. This foundation laid by Sharma was pivotal in setting a challenging total for their opponents to chase.
