Jordan James Chooses Championship Opportunity Over Glitz of Premier League
Jordan James has made a strategic career choice by committing to a loan spell at Wolverhampton Wanderers, despite having the chance to move to the Premier League. The Welsh international, originally from Rennes in France but currently on loan, decided to embrace the challenge of helping Wolves pursue their Premier League ambitions.
Having previously played for Leicester City last season, James became a key figure at the club. His performance won him the player of the year award, courtesy of scoring 11 goals in 34 games. Despite these personal accolades, Leicester City’s tumble to League One meant that James had to explore new options.
Speculation about James’ move to Wrexham was dismissed by the player, who mentioned that it had been a consideration earlier but did not materialize. Reflecting on his previous decision to join Leicester, he expressed satisfaction despite the team’s failure to avoid relegation. “I had a tremendous season at Leicester, but the relegation was disheartening,” he admitted.
James is enthusiastic about the prospect of featuring prominently in Wolves’ ascent to the top tier. “Wolves present the best environment to showcase my abilities,” James stated, expressing his desire to play in the Premier League.
Now for Wales, James gears up for the Nations League confrontation against Portugal. His appearances for Wolves have largely been from the bench, except for starts in the EFL Cup. Nevertheless, his focus remains on aiding Wales in their group challenge, bringing the same determination he promises to the Championship side.
Confronting queries about his decision to bypass the Premier League, James revealed that it wasn’t merely about playing in a top division team, but rather about staking his claim with a winning side. “I’ve been part of teams that struggled,” he reflected. Success with Wolves domestically could propel him—and the club—onto that stage.
For now, Wolves have an option to secure his services further post-loan, a prospect James seems keen on, should his and the club’s objectives align.
